May Insights: The Practice of 'No'
- Apr 29
- 1 min read
There’s something quietly transformative about saying no.
Not from restriction or rigidity, but from clarity. From knowing what truly matters and choosing to honour that by saying 'no' to everything that isn't what you are seeking.
This month, try this simple but powerful journaling practice.
At the beginning of May, sit down and write a list of 10 no’s and the yeses they create space for.
Your no’s should feel meaningful and supportive of the life you want to live, not the one you fall into by default.
For example, a “no” to late-night scrolling might be a “yes” to deeper rest.
A “no” to overcommitting might be a “yes” to presence with your family.

Then, once a week throughout the month, return to your journal.
Reflect honestly:
Which no’s did you honour?
Which felt difficult to maintain?
Where did you slip, and why?
Not to judge yourself but to understand yourself, your habits and slight changes you can make in the future to better honour your 'nos'.
If you fell off track, gently explore how you can recommit.
If you lost momentum, decide how you’ll return to it and adjust if needed. Stay in relationship with the practice rather than abandoning it.
You've spotted my first 4 no's in the image above.
What are yours?
Here's to a month of journalling xx
Love,
Christine
