Creamy, warming, and lightly spiced, this turmeric latte brings a quiet sense of ease to the body. It supports agni (digestive fire) while helping the body feel more balanced and settled. The spices work to encourage digestion without being too heavy, making it an easy, supportive drink that can carry you into the day or help you unwind at night.

Turmeric is a deeply grounding spice. It’s got an earthy flavour and rich golden colour and carries a reputation for supporting digestion, circulation, and overall balance in the body.

Its active compound, curcumin, is widely studied for its anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties. In Ayurveda, turmeric is considered warming and supportive for agni (digestive fire), helping our bodies process food and experience less internal stagnation. And when paired with black pepper and a source of fat to improve absorption, its benefits are more readily available to the body (which is why it’s usually found in warm milks, curries, and daily tonics).

It’s a simple ingredient, but a powerful one and if you’re looking for a gentle way to ease into Autumn, this recipe is for you.

INGREDIENTS

Serves: 2 persons

Time: 10 minutes

2 cups plant-based milk (almond, oat, or coconut all work well)

1 tsp ground turmeric

½ tsp ground cinnamon

¼ tsp ground ginger (or freshly grated)

Pinch of black pepper

1 -2 chopped medjool dates

METHOD

Spiced Milk Base Add all ingredients (except for the dates) into a small saucepan. Heat gently over low–medium heat, stirring continuously to avoid boiling.

Dates

Once warmed through and fragrant add the chopped dates and stir for another 2-4 minutes, allowing the dates to soften. remove the saucepan from heat.

Assemble & Serve

Serve as is, or strain out the dates first for a smoother, more refined texture. Pour into two cups and serve warm.

Note: A pinch of black pepper helps activate the benefits of turmeric, so don’t skip it!

Let me know if this becomes one your small daily rituals.
