Privacy Policy

Chu Yoga respects your privacy and handles personal information in line with the Australian Privacy Principles in the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth). This policy explains what we collect, why, who we share it with and how to reach us.

What we collect

  • Bookings: your name, email, phone number, whether you're joining in person or online, and the details of what you booked.
  • Health information: this website doesn't collect health information. If you choose to tell your teachers about an injury, pregnancy or health condition by replying to your confirmation email, it stays in our email inbox and we use it only to keep your practice safe. It isn't sent to Stripe or used for marketing.
  • Course applications and waitlists: your name, email, optional phone number and anything you choose to tell us about yourself and your goals.
  • Shop orders: your name, email, billing country and, for printed books, your shipping address.
  • Gift cards: your details and the recipient's name, email and message.
  • Newsletter: your email address (and first name, if you give it), with a record of when and how you subscribed.
  • Contact form: your name, email and message.
  • "Which course fits you?" quiz: your answers (no health questions). Your name and email only if you ask us to email your result.

Card details are entered directly with Stripe — we never see or store them. We don't use advertising cookies, analytics trackers or tracking pixels. Our forms are protected from spam by Cloudflare Turnstile, which may use a strictly necessary cookie to tell people from bots. When you start a booking we set one strictly necessary cookie (a random ID, kept for 24 hours) so that going back from the payment page and trying again doesn't hold two places.

How we use it

To manage your bookings, applications and purchases (confirmations, reminders, downloads, course resources and changes), reply to enquiries, send the newsletter you asked for, prevent spam and fraud, and meet our legal obligations. We don't sell or rent your information. We only send marketing email, such as suggestions for your next course, if you've subscribed, and every one has an unsubscribe link.

To see how the site is used without tracking anyone, we count things we already record (for example, how many bookings or waitlist sign-ups there were last month). These counts don't identify you.

Who we share it with

We use trusted service providers that store or process information on our behalf, including outside Australia:

  • Stripe (payments) — United States, Ireland and other locations
  • Resend (email delivery and newsletter list) — United States
  • Cloudflare (website hosting, security, our booking database and file storage) — global network

We take reasonable steps to ensure they protect your information consistently with the Australian Privacy Principles.

How long we keep it

We keep booking and order records for as long as needed for our business and tax records (generally 5–7 years), newsletter details until you unsubscribe, and application or waitlist details until the course intake they relate to has passed, unless you ask us to delete them sooner. Health notes are deleted 30 days after your last session. Technical records (such as a keyed, non-reversible code made from your network address, used to stop abuse of our booking form) are deleted within a day of your checkout closing.

Security

Information is stored with providers that encrypt it in transit and at rest, and health notes are also encrypted by us with a key only our website holds. Download links for purchases are private and expire, and access to our records is protected by a strong password and limits on login attempts.

If we ever have a data breach that's likely to cause you serious harm, we'll tell you and the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner as soon as we can, and explain what happened and what you can do.

Your choices and rights

Every newsletter includes an unsubscribe link, and we action unsubscribes promptly. You can ask to access or correct your information, or ask us to delete it, by emailing info@chuyoga.com. If you're unhappy with how we've handled your information, please contact us first; you can also complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au.
